The condition and identities of the two victims were not known immediately from Saturday afternoon.

The police arrested a suspect, but did not identify them immediately or provide more details about a possible reason.

“The authorities do not believe that there is a continuous threat to the area,” said the Police Department of the University of Minnesota in a statement.

Governor Tim Walz responded to the X shooting, calling the “horrible” incident.

“A time of celebration that should never have become one of fear and sadness,” Walz wrote. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by this act of meaningless violence,” he wrote.
