Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs declared guilty in 2 of 5 counts: what’s still for the rap magnate?

Sean “Diddy” combs was declared guilty of two of the five positions he faced in his judgment of conspiracy and sexual trafficking of extortion on Wednesday, marking the end of a 10 -week trial.

The jury found combs guilty of two transport positions to participate in prostitution, one for his ex -girlfriend Cassie Ventura and for another ex -girlfriend who testified under the pseudonym “Jane”.

But combs was declared not guilty of extortion conspiracy, the most serious position, and both sexual trafficking counts, each of which led to a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison.

This is what follows for the rap tycoon:

Will combs appeal?

The combs legal team has not yet indicated whether ComBs will attract, but ABC News Brian Buckmire taxpayer said he does not see it as a probable option.

“Will it appeal? Of course, that is your right to do it. But I don’t see a call here. I think you take this as a victory, you serve in the few years that you can get and you will be happy that you have not received life,” Buckmire told ABC News Live.

Judgment

According to him United States Sentence Commission“Transporting people knowing to participate in prostitution or any illegal or sexual activity”, which includes attempts to transport people, has a maximum penalty of 10 years, which means that combs could face up to 20 years in prison for their two positions. But, the sentence could be shorter for rap tycoon.

Citing federal guidelines of sentence, prosecutors in the trial argued that combs should be sentenced to 51 to 63 months in prison, about four to five years. The defense lawyers argued that the guidelines point to a sentence of 21 to 27 months, about two years.

“I don’t think I see more than five years,” said Michael Bachner, a white -collar and former prosecutor’s criminal defense lawyer. He pointed out that federal sentence guidelines suggest a sentence of approximately two to three years.

He has already turned about nine months while waiting for his trial, which will be subtracted from prayer.

Buckmire described the verdict as a “massive victory” for combs, since it was found not guilty of extortion, which had a life imprisonment as a possibility. Although it was convicted in the positions that involve transport to participate in prostitution, Buckmire said that “the minimum is nothing” and that it would probably be sentenced in the range of approximately three to six years in total

“Be combs, going to the trial where he faced life and being able to go out with somewhat less than 10 years, possibly less than 10 years, that is a victory,” Buckmire said.

The judge denied the bond during a hearing during a hearing on Wednesday night after his sentence for two positions.

Before the bail was denied, COP lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, argued that the combs would be released on Wednesday. If the judge grants it, the combs trip would be limited to the states where he has houses and would have to deliver his passport.

“It should be released in the appropriate conditions … you should be able to return home,” Agnifilo said Wednesday.

The Prosecutor’s Office argued that it should be kept in jail pending sentence, saying that the government plans to seek “significant imprisonment” for combs.

“The crimes of conviction constitute crimes of violence and detention of mandates after the defendant’s conviction,” prosecutors said in a presentation before a 5 PM bail hearing.

In addition, they argue that combs is a risk of escape and a danger, despite defense statements otherwise. The Prosecutor’s Office included a letter from his ex -girlfriend’s lawyer, Cassie Ventura, saying that combs “is likely to represent a danger to victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as for the community.”

Civil demands

Combs also faces dozens of civil lawsuits, including a prominent member of the Danity Kane Dawn Richard band, who accused the rap magnate of terrorizing and sexually abusing her. He also said he witnessed combs hitting Ventura.

Richard, who testified at the trial, sued Combs in 2024 for assault, copyright and false imprisonment, claiming, among other things, that he touched her on numerous occasions and forced her to endure the inhuman working conditions. Combs denied all the accusations and their lawyers in May presented a motion to dismiss the case.

After the verdict, Lisa Bloom, Richard’s lawyer, said in a statement: “The divided verdict today is a disappointment, but the criminal charges are different from the civil claims that we present and we have been fighting against Sean combs. We will continue to fight aggressively in our case until we obtain full and complete justice for Dawn.”

Those will develop regardless of their criminal procedures.

Career and wealth

For decades, Comps was one of the most influential artists and music entrepreneurs in the business, but the state of their career and wealth after this trial remains uncertain.

When federal prosecutors revealed their accusation against the Peines in September, the accusations requested the loss of their assets in case of a conviction.

Since combs are guilty with transport positions, assets such as their private jet, if used to transport sex workers or customers, could be seized, an expert told ABC News.

If he is launched and decides to return to work in the entertainment industry, combs could face challenges of reserve of places and establish endorsements or corporate associations, said Jeff Approvese, professor at the music industry at the University of Drexel, ABC News.

ComBs could also face difficulties in obtaining prizes and signing new artists to register agreements, limiting their alternative paths to income, said Approves.
